Assyrtiko

Assyrtiko is a white wine grape native to the Greek island of Santorini. The variety thrives in volcanic soils and so is widely cultivated across the Aegean. These soils also proved inhospitable to phylloxera, so many vines survived the scourge and are now quite old. Assyrtiko grapes are golden in color and are known for producing refreshing, mineral-driven wines marked by briny citrus flavors.
