Native to Valencia, Spain, Bobal is a grape variety known for making deeply colored, flavor-packed wines. The grape is one of Spain’s most important red varieties, just behind Tempranillo. Bobal has a high level of natural acidity and is also frequently used to make dark-hued rosé wines. It also has thick skins and high levels of anthocyanins, which give the wines their dark color and tannic presence. In the vineyard, Bobal vines are vigorous and fairly disease resistant.
