Hailing from the hills of Piedmont, Dolcetto is an indigenous Italian red variety known for producing soft, fruit-forward reds with flavors of earth and spice. Although its name means “little sweet one,” the majority of wines produced from Dolcetto are vinified dry. These wines are generally meant to be consumed young, but the finest examples can certainly undergo long-term aging. Dolcetto is known for its low acidity, which is why it is often cultivated in cooler climate areas.
