Scheurebe

Created by German viticulturist Dr. Georg Scheu in 1916, Scheurebe has since become a notable white grape variety across Germany and Austria. Scheurebe is known for its pronounced bouquet and is frequently used in sweet wine production. The grape is a cross between Riesling and an unidentified wild vine, and the impetus for creating it was to craft a more resistant and aromatic version of Silvaner. Quality expressions of sweet Scheurebe show herbal flavors of citrus and honeysuckle.
