Originally from eastern Europe, Furmint is a white grape variety most commonly associated with Hungarian wine production. Although best known for its role in sweet Tokaji production, today winemakers are beginning to vinify Furmint dry. These aromatic, acid-driven wines are known for their flavors of stone fruit, citrus, and honey. Furmint still remains a go-to variety for sweet wine production, as it is susceptible to botrytis.
