Verdelho

Verdelho is a white grape cultivated throughout Portugal and is a key player in its Madeira production, of which one of the four main styles is named. Verdelho-based Madeira is drier than Bual, though less dry than Sercial. The grape is known for its high acidity and ability to age, as well as its fruit-driven flavors of pineapple, citrus, honeycomb, and ginger. Verdelho is often confused with Italian Verduzzo and Spanish Verdejo, though they are completely different varieties.
