Chardonnay is a green-skinned variety known for its neutral flavor profile, which means that it reflects flavors of the land where it’s grown and the vinification techniques used on it. Chardonnay originally hails from Burgundy but is now cultivated worldwide. Common flavors associated with Chardonnay are green apple, citrus, tropical fruits, hazelnuts, vanilla, and butter, the latter two of which are generally results of oak aging and malolactic fermentation.
