Each Monday, we publish a round-up of the most compelling flash sales offers for the coming week. Given the diversity of our audience across all ages, preferences, and budgets, know that some of these bottles might not quite float your boat, or might not be the right price. But all of our choices represent genuine value and hard-to-match opportunities in their own categories.

It’s definitely an eclectic mix this week, including our first-ever flash-sale sake, available on Monday from Wine Access. The true standouts, though, are both white wine blends (of a sort), including a vibrant Sancerre available on Thursday from Wine Access, and the stunning Harmonie R blend from the famed Rangen de Thann vineyard in Alsace, available Tuesday from SommSelect.

Keep an eye out each week for our top picks.

The mix of dark chocolate, berries, and baking spices are classic for the region, with the grapes coming from both the Holmes vineyard and Oakville Ranch. bottle of 2019 San Polo Rubio Toscana IGT

2019 San Polo Rubio Toscana IGT, $18.95

Why we chose it: This wine hails from just outside of the classic Brunello di Montalcino zone in Tuscany, but like those wines it is made from 100% Sangiovese, in this case from the valley of Sant’Antimo near the famed Mount Amiata. The production style emphasizes freshness and brightness, making this a fun and lively wine to enjoy right away.

bottle of Château Haut-Bages-Libéral - Pauillac 2018

2018 Château Haut-Bages-Libéral Pauillac, $65

Why we chose it: Here’s an exceptional bottle of Bordeaux from the famed village of Pauillac, from a Fifth Growth estate, and the pricing is very reasonable. Critics like James Suckling (who gave this wine 97 points) loved this wine, and as is the case with many red wines from Bordeaux these days, it’s suitable for enjoyment right away or for cellaring for quite some time.

bottle of 2017 Domaine Maurice Schoech Harmonie R

2017 Domaine Maurice Schoech Harmonie R, $60

Why we chose it: There are few sites in the world of wine quite like the Rangen de Thann, a Grand Cru vineyard in Alsace, France whose steep slopes have long produced some of the most prized Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Gewürztraminer in all of Europe. Here, Domaine Maurice Schoech blends these three varieties (relying mostly on Pinot Gris and Riesling) to produce a wine that truly speaks of this exceptional place.

bottle of 2020 Domaine Hubert Brochard Sancerre Tradition

2020 Domaine Hubert Brochard Sancerre Tradition, $28

Why we chose it: Sancerre remains a magical part of the Loire Valley for Sauvignon Blanc, and this bottle encompasses much of what makes that region special. Sourced from estate vineyards that are set on a mix of clay, limestone, and flint, it’s fermented and aged in stainless steel to preserve notes of fresh-cut citrus, elderflower, and tarragon.

bottle of 2017 Karl Erbes Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese

2017 Karl Erbes Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese, $25

Why we chose it: The famed “spice garden of Ürzig” is the source for this exceptional Riesling from Germany’s Mosel Valley, and indeed, spice and floral notes pervade this wine, along with lime, apple, quince, and honey. This is a slightly off-dry bottle, perfect for spicier fare or just sipping in the sunshine and relaxing.

Saturday, June 4

bottle of 2019 Pilcrow Ghost Block Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

2019 Pilcrow Ghost Block Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, $125

Why we chose it: Hailing from the Yountville sub-AVA of Napa Valley, the grapes for this wine were sourced from a fascinating vineyard, a portion of the Vaca Mountains that some eight million years ago toppled down the valley, exposing volcanic soils that are almost never seen on the Napa Valley floor. The resulting wine is delicate, with gentle tannins and notes of sandalwood and rose petals, yet still unmistakably Napa.

bottle of 2018 Arano Moradillo de Roa Ribera del Duero Crianza

2018 Arano Moradillo de Roa Ribera del Duero Crianza, $25

Why we chose it: Ribera del Duero isn’t as famous as the nearby Rioja region in Spain, but in both cases you can get exceptional expressions of Tempranillo. Case in point, this wine was awarded 95 points by James Suckling, so snagging it for $25 is obviously pretty sweet. Expect bold red and black cherry and berry fruit, terra cotta, and cinnamon.
