Each Monday, we publish a round-up of the most compelling flash sales offers for the coming week. Given the diversity of our audience across all ages, preferences, and budgets, know that some of these bottles might not quite float your boat, or might not be the right price. But all of our choices represent genuine value and hard-to-match opportunities in their own categories.

This week offers some very affordable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons and excellent Rieslings from iconic regions and vineyards in Europe. Plus, you can snag some tasty Bordeaux, great vintage Champagne, and wine from a tiny island off the coast of Sicily.

Keep an eye out each week for our top picks.

bottle of 2019 Xanthos Cabernet Sauvignon

2019 Xanthos Cabernet Sauvignon, $24.95

Why we chose it: Here’s a single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, a sub-AVA within the Napa Valley, that checks in at a price point we had to double check to make sure was correct. It’s 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot from the Narsai David vineyard, and offers bold notes of bing cherry and blackberry as well as mocha and violets.

Where to get it: Wine Express, available June 27, 2022 at 9 a.m. ET until sold out

bottle of 2008 Piper Heidsieck Rare Cuvée Brut Champagne

2008 Piper Heidsieck Rare Cuvée Brut Champagne, $189.95

Why we chose it: This vintage Champagne blends fruit from some of Piper Heidsieck’s most prized holdings and is only made in exceptional vintages, like 2008. Critics took note, with Wine Spectator giving it 97 points and praising its elegance and fine texture, while Wine Enthusiast awarded it 96 points and noted that it’s just now reaching a delightful level of maturity, so enjoy it in good conscience.

bottle of 1983 Château Vannières Bandol Rouge

1983 Château Vannières Bandol Rouge, $225

Why we chose it: There are some experiences that just don’t come your way very often, like being able to step back in time almost four decades by tasting a wine. These bottles were held at the winery until being hand-selected by the owners, taste-tested, and sent to the U.S. Made almost entirely from Mourvèdre and hailing from this iconic appellation within Provence, it’s a time machine packed into a 750 ml bottle.

Where to get it: SommSelect, available June 27, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. PT until sold out

bottle of 2017 Bishop’s Capture Cabernet Sauvignon

2017 Bishop’s Capture Cabernet Sauvignon, $29.95

Why we chose it: It’s hard to find a well-made, bold, and expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon for prices like this; with a mix of black currant, blackberry, chocolate, and baking spices, the wine is quite a “get” for the price. It hails from the Coombsville sub-AVA, and is generous and ready to drink right now.

bottle of 2019 Château Fonbadet B de Fonbadet Bordeaux

2019 Château Fonbadet B de Fonbadet Bordeaux, $25

Why we chose it: This Bordeaux red blends Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon into a package so alluring it earned 97 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards. Because it’s directly imported by Wine Access, the price is highly appealing, especially considering that world-renowned enologist Michel Rolland consults on this project.

bottle of 2021 Caravaglio Malvasia Bianco Secco

2021 Caravaglio Malvasia Bianco Secco, $25

Why we chose it: This wine hails from the tiny island of Salina next door to Sicily, where winemaker Nino Caravaglio turns Malvasia Bianco into this aromatic yet well-structured and mineral-laden white wine that speaks of the seaside and the volcanic soils that comprise the island. Oh, and it’s certified organic, to boot.

bottle of 2016 Kuentz-Bas Riesling Geisberg Alsace Grand Cru

2016 Kuentz-Bas Riesling Geisberg Alsace Grand Cru, $52

Why we chose it: Alsatian Riesling is prized for several qualities, including ample ripeness and body in totally dry wines, as well as an incredible minerality. Hailing from one of the most iconic vineyards in the entire region, farmed biodynamically in the town of Ribeauvillé, this wine is a mix of piercingly fresh apple and pear, a hint of orange blossom, and a remarkably long finish that lingers.

bottle of 2019 Weingut Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Steinerterrassen Federspiel Wachau

2019 Weingut Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Steinerterrassen Federspiel Wachau, $42

Why we chose it: Yes, that is a lot of words in German up there, but what you really need to know is that this is a truly stunning Riesling from one of the most underappreciated wine regions in the world, Austria’s Wachau Valley. Fermented totally dry, this combines notes of green apple, lime leaf, and even hints of peach, along with piercing acidity and robust minerality. Should you care to, you can also age this wine for a decade or more.

bottle of 2015 Le Haut-Médoc d’Issan Haut-Médo

2015 Le Haut-Médoc d’Issan, Haut-Médoc, $39

Why we chose it: As the “third wine” of the famed Château d’Issan in Margaux, this wine has an excellent pedigree. The fruit hails from a vineyard three miles west of the main estate, and is a blend of about 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, made in a similar fashion and by the same team as the prized Château d’Issan, giving you a chance to sample their stylings at a far more approachable price point.

Where to get it: SommSelect, available June 30, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. PT until sold out
