Each Monday, we publish a round-up of the most compelling flash sales offers for the coming week. Given the diversity of our audience across all ages, preferences, and budgets, know that some of these bottles might not quite float your boat, or might not be the right price. But all of our choices represent genuine value and hard-to-match opportunities in their own categories.

First and foremost this is a week for collectors, with an incredible six-bottle pack of 100-point wines from Bordeaux hitting first thing Monday morning. Add to that a Sassicaia offering on Monday and 2012 Larkmead Vineyards Solari Cabernet Sauvignon on Thursday, and you’ve got the makings of a great cellar. For those seeking something a bit more unusual, Monday also brings a vibrant Txakolina from Basque Spain, while Friday has a beautifully-aged Nerello Mascalese from the slopes of Mount Etna.

Keep an eye out each week for our top picks.

bottle of 2012 Calabretta Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie

2012 Calabretta Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie, $38

Why we chose it: For lovers of the perfumed, structured reds of Barolo and Barbaresco, Mount Etna on the island of Sicily has been a revelation. Plantings on the slopes of that active volcano are dominated by Nerello Mascalese, which similar to the Nebbiolo of Piedmont produces aromatically intense reds that are light in color but high in structure and complexity. Here, Massimiliano Calabretta works with fruit from vines that range from 60 to 100 years old, gently aging them in very large used oak casks to produce this dynamic and captivating wine.
