Anjou-Saumur

Together with Touraine, Anjou-Saumur makes up the Middle-Loire (or Centre-Loire) region of France’s Loire Valley. Although often grouped together, Anjou and Saumur are quite different; while Saumur’s vineyards are mostly rooted in limestone, Anjou is dominated by schist, granite, and slate. Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc are the leading players in both regions, though the former finds its origins in Anjou. Wines from Anjou-Saumur are quite versatile and span a variety of flavors, styles, and price points.
