USA
Central Region (Virginia)

The eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and rolling countryside offer striking topography in this region of the mid-Atlantic state in the eastern United States. This was where Thomas Jefferson imported French wines to his home in Monticello, and attempted to make wine in the 1770s. Centuries of winemakers have carried his experiments forward. Chardonnay and red Bordeaux varieties do well here along with Viognier, Petit Verdot and Petit Manseng. Virginia is not just For Lovers, it is For Wine Lovers.
