NAPA, CA — Pix, an online wine platform, today announced its team has expanded to include four outstanding industry professionals.
The new team members include David Round MW, Joe Fattorini, and Janice N. Williams. Amy Hoopes has agreed to join Pix’s board of advisors.
“It’s a testament to the work that we’re doing that Pix is able to attract industry professionals of this caliber,” said CEO and founder Paul Mabray.
David Round MW is well-known within the UK wine industry, as he has worked for some of the most prestigious names in British wine, including Fortnum & Mason, Berry Bros & Rudd, Direct Wines Ltd, and Bancroft Wines, among others. David Round also founded the food and beverage company Round About Wine. He joins Pix as Head of Wine.
He joins wine personality Joe Fattorini, Pix’s new Managing Director of Trade. Joe Fattorini is one of the UK’s most experienced wine professionals, who has worked for some of the UK’s leading wine merchants, including Berry Bros & Rudd. A seasoned media professional, he has introduced millions of people around the world to wine through his role as presenter of The Wine Show, now streaming on Amazon Prime, as well as through his many newspaper columns and radio shows.
Janice N. Williams joins Pix as Senior Journalist on Pix’s independent editorial arm, The Drop. Janice comes to the role from Newsweek, where she broke fashion and entertainment stories. She has also previously contributed to wine publications such as Vinepair.
“Pix can only fulfill its promise if the people behind it are serious wine lovers and experts, as well as professionals in their respective fields,” said Paul Mabray. “That’s why we are so proud to announce these hires.”
Amy Hoopes, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at The Wine Group, and one of California’s most respected wine industry executives, has also joined Pix’s board of advisors.
After graduating, Ms. Hoopes joined E. & J. Gallo’s Management Achievement Program and rose to become Director of Marketing and subsequently became President of Wente Family Estates. She is also a member of numerous wine industry associations. She will offer advice to Pix as it evolves.
“We are building a foundation for changing how wine gets bought and sold online,” said Mabray. “That can only be done with a high-level team, and I am confident that we have attracted some of the brightest talent in the business. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together.”
